So I’ve already said a few things about this, but I’ll add to it, because this was a devastating moment and I’m a sucker for it.

Obviously the whole hug isn’t here due to the fact that I try not to steal and reupload gifs from the OPs, so I can only include what shows up in the gif search.

But.

In general, I think this is a great example of Who he is. She attack hugs him and he isn’t annoyed or visibly impatient at all. He accepts what she’s offering, he doesn’t rush her, he returns the gesture.

Specifically (in no particular order):

1. How he bends over.

2. How he embraces her and just pauses after the back rub because she hasn’t released him.

3. How he keeps contact until she pulls away.

4. How his hand slides down her arm to her hand.

5. How he looks at her even after she breaks contact.

6. THE BACK RUB IS THE WORST I MEAN SERIOUSLY

7. How he looks down and says “Hello!”

8. DID I MENTION THE BACK RUB

This also shows how his touch isn’t an afterthought, it isn’t a meaningless reflex, it isn’t without purpose, it isn’t too weak or too rough. It is thoughtful and purposeful and reassuring and looks like the perfect blend of firm gentleness. And no, that isn’t an oxymoron.
